About us
The story behind the otter
Yes, the name is a pun — 'otterly different' — and we'll own that once here and let the rest of the site do the squeaking. What matters is what the pun stands for.
Why an otter?
Otters are small, clever, and absurdly effective. They use tools. They hold hands so nobody drifts off while they sleep. They keep their patch of river healthy, and they look like they enjoy the work.
That's the IT partner we wanted to build: a small, sharp, local team that holds on tight to its clients, keeps the whole waterway safe — not just the parts that pay extra — and is genuinely pleasant to deal with.
We started Otterly.cloud in Fortitude Valley because Brisbane's small and medium businesses kept telling us the same story: locked into annual contracts, paying for bundles they didn't understand, with security sold back to them as an optional extra. We built the opposite on purpose — month-to-month terms, a menu you order from, and a minimum standard of protection that nobody can waive. Not even you. Especially not you.
Our philosophy
What "otterly different" actually means
Month-to-month, always
Annual contracts protect the provider, not the client. We keep your business by being good at ours — every single month.
A menu, not a bundle
You pick the services that fit. We never pad an invoice with things you don't use just because they came in the box.
A floor nobody falls through
Backup, anti-phishing and monitoring are bundled into every plan with no opt-out. Flexibility on top of the floor — never below it.
Local, actually
Fortitude Valley based, inner-Brisbane focused. On-site support is a real option, not a line on a brochure.
Who we work with
Built for Brisbane businesses of 20–100 staff
Big enough that IT failures hurt; not big enough for an internal IT department. That's our raft. We're Microsoft 365 first — if you're on Google Workspace or something older, we'll move you across properly and then look after you like we built it ourselves. Because by then, we did.
Come meet the raft
Coffee's on us — we're in Fortitude Valley, so odds are we're close. Or start with a quote and put a number on it first.
